Academic Personnel Actions

All job-related actions for tenured/tenure-eligible faculty, continuing status eligible academic professionals and all other employees on a  multi-year appointment are handled through the Dean’s Office.  For additional information or questions, please contact the Dean’s Assistant.

For all other year-to-year appointments and postdoctoral scholars, please contact the HR Manager in the Office of Human Resources for information or questions.

Hourly Student Job Changes & Terminations

Approvals – Changes to a students job, pay or the termination of their position requires a request from the supervisor.  Requests that result in an increase to the budge will also require the Office of Human Resources post-award approval if funded by grants, and the Director’s approval if funded by the unit’s state and/or local account

Submitting a Request – Requests can be submitted through HR

Staff Job Changes

Changes to an employees job classification (title), salary or FTE needs to be approved before the employee can be notified and the action can be processed

Staff Terminations

a) Involuntary termination of a staff position occurs when the university discontinues an individuals employment.  This type of action must be reviewed and approved prior to an employee being notified.  Units must contact the HR manager for assistance or questions related to the proposed termination

Approvals – Actions will require the Dean and Office of Human Resources approval.  Other approvals may be necessary based on the situation

Submitting a Request – Contact the HR manager in the Office of Human Resources for assistance.

b) Voluntary termination of a staff position occurs when an employee resigns or retires from their position.  in this situation, no additional reviews or approvals may be necessary.  Questions regarding a voluntary termination can be submitted to the HR team in the Office of Human Resources.

Submitting a Request – Employees who voluntarily terminate their position must notify their supervisors in writing.  A letter or email is acceptable.  All resignation or retirement letters need to be forwarded to the Office of Human Resources as soon as they are received.
